Tower Paddle Boards iRace 12’6″ Inflatable SUP Review

Tower Paddle Boards iRace 12'6The biggest concern every surfer or paddler has is that of adequacy because at the end of the day there’ll always be a thousand quality boards but only a handful that are actually suitable for you. Right now, you’re looking for an inflatable stand up paddle board but it’s not so easy to make up your mind as you can see.

But then there is the Tower Paddle Boards iRace 12’6″ iSUP board which is an elegant board to say the least. It’s no surprise that this board caught your attention as it is one of the finest creations of Tower paddle boards and their newest addition to a long line of successful iSUPs.

This board is primarily recognized due to its attractive overview but what most people don’t know is that it has a lot more to offer than just a fancy design.

Namely, quality is one of the most prominent features amongst Tower Paddle boards but specifically the iRace as it is strictly made of military grade PVC material which is then strengthened by a drop-stitch construction, making it virtually indestructible.Meaning, this board will hardly suffer any noticeable damage regardless of the circumstances and experiences it goes through within its purpose.

When it comes to inflatable paddle boards and boards in general, size does matter because it can drastically affect performance depending on your height and weight.

To start with, the iRace is 12 feet 6 inches long and 30 inches wide which makes it perfect for teenagers, young adults and adults. In other words, this board has a weight limit of 400 lbs which means that it can handle riders of almost all sizes; in fact, it even has room for 1 more child or pet.

When it comes to thickness, the board measures 6 inches and that is significant for one main reason. Boards that are 4 inches thick or lower are prone to getting easily submerged at the center under the weight of the user whereas boards that are 4 inches thick or higher are more durable and a lot more reliable under pressure.

Moreover, the primary features of this product are one more reason to seriously consider putting it on your purchase list.

First things first, the board is designed to appear as smooth and sharp as could be and that is because a lot of the ‘new’ iSUPs out there are putting more and more features on the body which overrides the true purpose of paddle boarding or surfing.

Tower Paddle Boards iRace 12 6 Inflatable SUP Board 12'6The iRace is clear of any distractions and that gives it an authentic feeling. However, the manufacturer did improve a few things on this board that don’t affect that natural look. Hence, 50% of the deck is covered by a rigid gripping pad which is meant to help you maintain stronger balance and also distribute your weight easily on top of the board. And as for fin configuration, the iRace comes with large detachable center fin.

There is one thing which has always helped me make up my mind about every inflatable SUP board I have reviewed and that is the package in which they come because it can make the difference between an enjoyable experience and a huge pain in the back. Luckily, the iRace comes in a very friendly package which includes almost everything you’ll need to maintain this board.

The package might not include a carry bag but it does come with a collapsible aluminium paddle which is essential for every paddler. Also, the board comes with a high pressure hand pump which is equipped with a gauge so that you pump it to the exact degree (15 PSI).

Pros

  • Tower Paddle Boards iRace is a very rigid board which guarantees you’d actually enjoy this experience instead of constantly worrying about damaging it. (Watch the video included below to see how strong it is).
  • At this price, this board is a serious catch because out of the tens of iSUPs I reviewed; only a handful can compete with the design and quality of this board.
  • If the video is not enough evidence to convince you of the rigidity of this product then a 2 years warranty would surely do.

Cons

  • I can literally think of nothing negative to say about this board except that the hand pumping is going to be a little of a challenge. However, you can easily overcome that by getting yourself a nice little electric pump.
