Vilano, now that’s an unfamiliar name in the inflatable paddle board scene and with that arise a number of questions. It is an agreed upon fact that it’s always safer to trust a familiar brand than taking your chances with a strange product but once ago even these trusted names were unknown and unfamiliar to us.
Thus, it was quality which helped us make up our minds before anything else and Vilano is here to make a statement.
Now, don’t get me wrong, this brand was not found a couple days ago nor a couple months ago but it is definitely growing faster than most new comers and that’s because of a bunch of good reasons.
When talking about quality, the Vilano sport is described by critics as “virtually indestructible” and that is because it is strictly made of military grade PVC material which is consequently fortified by a Korean drop-stitch construction.
If that sounds vague then let me put it in context: It doesn’t matter whether you crash this board into hard rocks, throw it down on rough ground or even run it over with a car because it will remain intact and would probably even come out of it without a scratch.
When it comes to size, this board is designed to encompass the different preferences of a wide range of users. This Vilano Sport/ Fishing is 10 feet long and 33 inches wide making it perfect for teenagers, young adults and adults as well because the size of the board is more than enough to accommodate for even more than one user.
The board measures 6 inches in thickness which is undisputed because not even the highly ranked brands go this far to guarantee comfort of use. The reason I’m saying that is because inflatable SUP boards are commonly around 4-5 inches thick max, sometimes even less which makes the board more prone to getting submerged easily under a lot of weight.
However, with 6 inches, it is guaranteed that such predicaments would hardly ever occur. Accordingly, the manufacturer claims that this board has a weight limit of 300 lbs but I wouldn’t go that far; boards that are the same size don’t usually exceed 250 lbs.
Well, when it comes to the basic features of this board, you can easily say that it has pushed the bar a little bit higher.
Looking at the deck, you can see that the Vilano sport/fishing inflatable SUP Board is hooked up with 6 connected stainless steel D-rings on the nose instead of the common 4 and 8 more connected D-rings on the end instead of the common 3-4 which makes this board a cargo ship because you can literally carry almost any kind of cargo along with you no matter how big.
Also, you can use these attachments to install a kayak seat and expand your experience a little bit further.
Moreover, the comfort diamond groove traction pad is another reason to put this board on your purchase list because this pad will make it so much easier for you to maintain balance while standing and also get back up on the board after diving into the water.
One more aspect to tackle is the neatness of the final product and the great focus even the minor details get, making this board look flawless under the eye.
A huge influence on any Inflatable SUP purchase is the package in which it arrives and this board comes in a very reliable one.
First thing you spot while opening the package is the high pressure hand pump which is indispensable in your case (PS: board must be inflated to 15 PSI for best performance.). Then comes a generic looking paddle which could’ve been better to be honest but it would still get the job done.
Further, the package also includes a removable central fin which is the only fin this board has and the only one it needs.
Last but definitely not least, you’ll get a carry bag back pack to help you transport and store the board easily once deflated.
